KINGSPORT – The Tribe was an unruly homecoming host Friday evening.
With 1987 Dobyns-Bennett graduate and Clarksville NE coach Charles Ratliff back inside J. Fred Johnson Stadium, the Indians made his stay back in the friendly confines a short one with a 10-0 five-inning victory over the Eagles.
Once again, pitching was the forefront for the unbeaten Tribe (5-0) with three Dobyns-Bennett pitchers combining on the two-hit shutout.
Sophomore T.J. Maxwell started and working three innings to earn the victory, striking out two and walking one. Connor Godsey worked a hitless fourth with Baker Correll fanning two and allowing one hit in his inning.
Dobyns-Bennett scored six runs in the second and four more in the fourth, finishing with ten hits on the night.
Graham Jones, Maddox Martin and Kasey Carter were all 2-for-3. Jones drove in two runs and scored once while Carter doubled home a run and scored one time.
Andrew Reilly and Charlie Schuman both doubled and drove in two runs with Reilly also scoring twice. Levi Chappell brought home a run as well and Cam Hayworth roped a double.
Science Hill 24, Montgomery Central 0
JOHNSON CITY – The ‘Toppers sent 25 hitters to the plate and scored 20 runs in the bottom of the first in the blowout win over the Indians.
The first ten Science Hill batters and 18 of the first 19 reached base in the inning that saw Caden Wells go 3-for-3 with two singles, a triple and five RBI’s in the first frame alone.
Aiden Vermillion walked twice, singled and drove in three runs in the first. Leadoff hitter Sam Lane hit twice before taking the rest of the night off, with a single, triple, two runs scored and three RBI’s.
Cole Result Triple and single in two trips, driving in two runs and scoring two others. Matt Gavin finished 1-for-2 with two walks and three runs scored.
A dozen different ‘Toppers hit safely and 13 different ‘Toppers scored a run in the win.
Wells also worked the first three innings without allowing a hit and striking out three. Max Brian worked a scoreless fourth before the contest was called via a time-rule for the three games played on the day at TVA Credit Union Ballpark.
Daniel Boone 6, Jefferson County 0
GRAY – Kaleb Ray and Ben Stevens combined on the five-hit shutout of the Patriots.
Ray struck out seven and allowed four hits in six innings with Stevens working the seventh frame and allowing one hit.
Jackson McCurry led the ‘Blazers at the plate with three hits, including a triple, in four at bats with three runs batted in.
Clay Rowland and Will Gregory both went 2-for-3 with two runs scored with Gregory also lacing a double and driving in two runs. Spencer Hill batted in a run as well.
University High 12, David Crockett 9
JONESBOROUGH – A six-run fourth had the Pioneers up 9-5 through five innings, but the Bucs plated four runs in the sixth to tie the game and then scored three times in the top of the seventh to pull out the win at Warren Miller Park.
University High’s four runs in the sixth involved three walks and three Crockett errors with another error allowing Knox Poston to cross with the winning run in the seventh.
Cooper Stevenson’s two-run single provided some insurance, capping a seven RBI performance\ that included a three-run homer in the second to give the Bucs a 5-2 lead.
Crockett answered with six consecutive runs capped by an A.J. Ford grand slam that put the Pioneers ahead 8-5 in the fourth. Ford finished with five runs driven in on the night.
Cole Stevenson and Poston both finished 2-for-4 for the Bucs with Poston scoring four times and driving in one run and Stevenson scoring three runs and earning the win in relief with 2⅓ innings of work, allowing two hits and striking out four.
University High also got three hits from Patrick Boynewicz, two runs from Daxon Letterman, a triple from Samuel Duncan and an Anthony Margotta two-bagger.
Marcus Greenway was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored for Crockett. Gabe Story doubled and drove in a run, Braden Page batted in a run and Eli Rice scored twice.
Elizabethton 7, Loudon 4
ELIZABETHTON – The Cyclones broke a 2-2 deadlock with five runs in the bottom of the fourth to produce the win over the Redskins.
Ryan Jones drove in two runs and Rhett Slagle had two hits and scored twice for Elizabethton. J.D. Hooks also walked twice and scored twice for the winners.
Three Cyclone hurlers combined to limit Loudon to just four hits. Carson Atkinson struck out four and allowed two hits and one earned run in three innings.
Elijah Ambrose then tossed three no-hit innings before Cole Krawczyk survived two hits and a walk in the seventh.
Greeneville 12, Lenoir City 2
GREENEVILLE – Will Harom and Kobe Muncy drove in three runs apiece in Greene Devils run rule victory.
Harmon doubled, tripled, walked and scored two runs as well. Maddox Bishop, Carson Norris and Noah Murray all produced a pair of hits with Bishop and Murray both batting in a pair of runs.
Bishop doubled, walked twice and scored twice while Murray doubled and tripled. Norris scored three runs for the ‘Devils. Carson Quillen also crossed twice.
Grayson Crosby scattered five hits and coughed up just one earned run in a start and win that went 5⅓ innings.
Lakeway Christian 10, Unicoi County 7
KINGSPORT – The Lions trailed 6-4 going to the top of sixth, but posted six runs to pull out the victory over the Blue Devils in a game played at Hunter Wright Stadium.
Kolby Jones and Reid Bogart both had two hits for Unicoi County with Bogart driving in three runs and Jones scoring three times.
Alex Laningham, Caleb Murr and Rhett Allen also drove in runs for the Blue Devils with Allen and Kaden Cutlip both legging out triples.
Laningham also worked five innings on the mound, allowing three earned runs and six hits.
Bryson Allen, Davis Peralta-Lawson, Hudson Ford and Jake Vineyard all hit safely twice for Lakeway. Peralta-Lawson doubled twice and drove in three runs while Allen scored three runs and drove in two.
Ford also doubled to drive in a run and also picked the win in relief.
SOFTBALL
David Crockett 9, Morristown East 4
MORRISTOWN – Julie Maupin tied the Lady Pioneers contest against the Lady Hurricanes with a third-inning homer and Madelyn Dulaney shut down the Hurricanes in the circle the rest of the way.
Maupin’s blast tied the contest at 4-4 and couple with a sacrifice fly produced four runs batted in on the night while Dulaney tossed 3⅔ innings of one-hit relief, striking out nine, to earn the victory.
Dulaney also reached on all five plate appearances with three singles and two walks and scored three times.
Lily Mango got the start in the circle, turning things over to Natalie Dunbar in the second. Dunbar worked around three walks in 2⅓ innings of work.
Greeneville 15, Cosby 0
COSBY – The Greene Devils hit three home runs over the course of four hitters in the fourth inning to finish off the Eagles.
Greeneville hit five homers in the game with Kyla Jobe and Kaley Garland both going yard twice apiece.
Garland opened the game with a lead-off homer and then roped a three-run homer in the fourth. Following Garland’s second, Jobe followed one-out later with a solo blast and Brynlee Jones going back-to-back with another solo shot. Jones also cracked at two-run shot in the second.
Garland finished 3-for-3 with a walk, a double, four runs scored and four runs batted in while Job and Jones both went 2-for-3 with a walk, three runs scored and three runs driven in.
Destini Bailey doubled and drove in four runs for Greeneville, which also got one hit, a walk, one run scored and one driven in from Adalay Lamons.
In the circle, Jones worked the one-hit shutout, striking out five and walking three in the contest that was shortened to four innings.
Elizabethton 14, Happy Valley 0
ELIZABETHTON – Lacey Gobble doubled twice and Jozey Reed roped a two-bagger with both driving in three runs in the Lady Cyclone runaway victory.
Reed finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored while Gobble was 2-for-2 and also scored a pair of runs.
Brook Sparks, Lilly McDuffie and Mikinna Blackwell all added a pair of hits each. Sparks doubled and drove in one run with Blackwell scoring three times and driving in one and McDuffie bringing in a run.
Adrian Heading added two RBI’s and two runs scored for Elizabethton. Sadie Williams doubled, drove in one run and scored one run.
Three Lady Cyclones combined on the one-hitter. Kaitlyn Gryer struck out five in two innings, McDuffied whiffed three in her two innings while Piper Smith fanned the side in her one inning.

HENDERSONVILLE – The Lady Indians suffered a pair of one-hit shutouts Friday at the Commando Classic.
Both hits came with one out in the fourth inning of the five-inning contests.
Mary Kate Lively had the hit against Smyrna and Allie McConnelle against Creekwood.
